Who is this Daidouji Tomoyo that I continually mention? She's the best friend of Kinomoto Sakura and one of the most important supporting characters in the anime/manga, Card Captor Sakura, by CLAMP. Although it may seem like I'm exaggerating when I say so, Tomoyo is indeed too kind. She's humble, modest, loyal, and so much more. Her self-devotion to Sakura makes her an excellent friend. Tomoyo is open-minded and also the top student in her class, meaning she's super smart. There's no other word to describe her except... well... perfect.
Tomoyo's
mother, Daidouji Sonomi, is the CEO of a very wealthy toy company. In short, Tomoyo is rich. (She lives in a mansion with bodyguards!) You're probably thinking about the common stereotype, "Aren't the rich people spoiled brats? How can Tomoyo possibly be so nice?" It's true that MOST are, but that isn't the case with Tomoyo. If you've seen the anime, or read the manga of Card Captor Sakura, you'll find that Tomoyo IS, in fact, one of the most generous characters in the series. She's sweeter than sugar, if possible, sweeter. Her kind heart, giving, spirital, and carefree personality easily makes others want to befriend her. Coupled with kindaness is her observant quality. This gives her the ability to notice what others are feeling or doing that no one else notices. Although she's such a sweet person, Tomoyo is actually quite lonely person. Just think about it. Her mother is constantly working, she has no knowledge of her father even though he's still living, and lives at her mansion with her grandfather, or so I've heard. Thus, Tomoyo occupies her loneliness taping Sakura, and just basically spending time with her.
Tomoyo
is everybody's best friend, but most of all, Sakura's. Their meeting was quite an unusual one, but they became best friends ever since that day. When Sakura first became a card captor, she told no one, not even Tomoyo. How do you suppose Tomoyo found out then? Well, one night when Tomoyo was looking out her window, she saw Sakura flying across the sky. (Sakura used her Fly Card.) At school the next day, Tomoyo confronted Sakura about what she saw. Sakura had no choice but to tell Tomoyo about the Clow Cards. How else was she to explain it? (And besides, how could Sakura lie to Tomoyo?) From then on, she accompanies Sakura on almost every one of the CLow Card quests, or more accurately, Tomoyo follows Sakura along her quests to tape her capturing the clow cards. You can say that it's become one of her hobbies. Tomoyo also helps Sakura on her quest by giving her very encouraging words, and where would Sakura be without Tomoyo's quick-witted mind and very helpful suggestions during her quests? Tomoyo's also just there for Sakura as she is there for Tomoyo. I would consider knowing Tomoyo a great honor. It's not everyday you get to meet such good friends like Tomoyo. She's so loyal, intelligent, and puts others' feelings before hers which makes her such an exquisite person.
As
I mentioned before that Tomoyo is ahead of all her classmates, academic-wise. Although her grades are wonderful and possibly the best in her classes, she doesn't brag about them at all. Just a satisfied smile will do. Along with her excellent grades, Tomoyo has a beautiful voice. She's part of her after-school choir club. I fell in love with her voice after hearing her sing. It's soft, warm, and calm. (I would expect nothing less from her seiyuu, Iwako Junko!) Aside from her beautiful voice and intelligence, Tomoyo has yet another talent. Have you ever wondered where Sakura gets her kawaii costumes during card quests? No mall holds such exclusives. Not even a small corner store. Sakura gets her costumes from our very own Tomoyo! It has become a hobby of Tomoyo's to design and create cute costumes for Sakura, especially for Sakura's card quests. If her designer clothing are this beautiful at age 10, imagine what they'll look like when she's grown up. I believe that Tomoyo is the perfect rolemodel. She's such a sweety. She has the power to make an ocean sparkle and make the sky turn clear. Put simply, whenever someone is feeling down, her words and kindness instantly make them a little feel better. When someone has problems, Tomoyo's always there by his/her side to give them worldly advice. By just glancing at someone, she can see through their fake smiles and look deeper inside them tp uncover their true feelings. If her words don't help them feel better, within an instant, she can whip up a sneaky plan to turn their frown upside down! Just because she's 10, doesn't mean she's naive. Just get to know her by watching the anime, or even reading the manga, and you'll instantly realize how perfect she is.
